These survival cookery courses are a series of hands on classes aimed at students [aged 17+]. Students need to fend for themselves on a tight budget but can still eat well. These student cookery courses are ideal for those who want to avoid junk food and learn to cook useful, tasty and quick food.
We will cover basic cookery skills, brief background knowledge, and lots of hands on cooking. The students will also taste the dishes that they have cooked. A "tasting" style meal is included and an information and recipe pack to take away. All produce, equipment and use of aprons is also included.
This series of courses is being designed to equip students with the right skills for life - planning meals so that they eat well, understanding which produce is more expensive, how to use different produce, seasonal eating and also how sociable and how much fun food can be!
There will be a series of 4 different one day classes available, with different themes covered each day - you can book for 1 or more days. More dates will be added according to demand.
The courses will take place from 10am until 3.30pm - however we are also considering runing a series of evening course options for Oct/Nov 2008 - please enquire if this option is more suitable.
The menus will be based around simple, healthy meals that are useful to students who are cooking on a budget. The final menu for each day will be decided nearer the date and any food allergies will be taken into account [please contact me for advice if you have special dietery requirements]. Brief background skills, ingredient and basic nutritional information will also be included.

These one day courses for students are priced as follows:
- £85.00 per day [if 1 day is booked]
- £80.00 per day [if 2 days are booked or 2 students book together]
Students will be asked to complete a questionnaire on application so that I can assess the level of capability of the students and make sure that varying levels of capability are accommodated.
