Freelance Cookery Course Teaching Assistant/Assistants

I am always looking for freelance teaching assistants to help me with my cookery courses.

Who are we looking for?

Pay depends on experience/ability/extent of your skills. Hours are changeable according to which courses are running. Some months I run more courses than others - so this is not a job with the same hours every week - hence the "freelance" status.

Job share is a possibility - so if I end up with one person who can do weekend dates and another who can do weekdays then, with the right people, this might work out.

If you are interested in this vacancy then please send a brief outline of your skills/experience to Sarah [using the contact details on this web site] and tell me why you want to work with me, what relevant skills you have already and an idea of the times that you are generally available that might fit in.

VACANCIES FOR A LEVEL STUDENTS / UNIVERSITY STUDENTS - We need Regular Indoor Cookery Course Assistants

We are always looking for young people to assist with our courses in Beeston, Nottingham. If you don't mind washing up and clearing the dining table and are interested in cooking then this might be for you. We pay £5 per hour and, if you are interested in doing more than wash up, then we will teach you some food preparation and you can assist with the more interesting jobs too [pay rises to £6 per hour once fully trained]. Mostly Saturdays and some evening work available.

VACANCIES FOR A LEVEL STUDENTS / UNIVERSITY STUDENTS - We need Outdoor Cookery Course Assistants

We are looking again for casual, flexible [PAID] workers to help with outdoor cooking courses that take place at Trinity Farm [near the village of Cossall, close to Junction 26 of the M1]. We will be doing a series of dates that involve hands on cooking under a shelter in field and we need basic help from flexible people - might suit students looking to earn a few pounds while learning something new. We need 2 people for each date and courses run from May to Sept. Tasks involved include washing up, collecting items from the farm shop, putting out clean bowls of water, general tidying up and making tea/coffee for our guests when they arrive. It's not particularly hard work, the courses are fun - and you get fed as well as paid!

We pay by the hour for actual hours worked and agree hours with you in advance. We pay £5 per hour and, if you are interested in doing more than wash up, then we might teach you some food preparation and you can assist with the more interesting jobs too [pay rises to £6 per hour once fully trained]. Likely times 9am until 4pm ish. You can commit to 1 or 2 days or several according to our schedule - it will not take all your time - it is flexible for flexible people who are willing to work!

What will you get out of it? Apart from the cash and food you will have the opportunity to see how an outdoor cooking course works and [if you get your tasks done quickly] to see how some of the recipes are prepared. This could lead to more interesting work later for those with the right skills or interests. It will also look good on your CV - particularly if you are looking to work in the food industry. We also offer work experience positions all year round - where you can trade a bit of your time to wash up for us - and get a free cookery course/lesson in a cooking technique in return.

Own transport required to get you to and from the farm [or you can possibly grab a lift with me if you can fit in with when I am going]. Email sarah [at] courses4cooks.co.uk [insert @ symbol please] or phone Sarah 0115 9160861 for details
